Mr. Lano Threadgill, age 74, of Guin in the Twin Community, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018 at his residence. Mr. Threadgill grew up in Brilliant, he lived most of his life in the Twin Community where he served as the Fire chief of Twin Volunteer Fire Department. Lano has a love for fishing, hunting and most of all, spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Threadgill is preceded in death by his parents, Vordra and Velma Threadgill, and his wife, Doris Faye Markham Threadgill. He is survived by his daughters, Kaye Todd (Doug) and Deborah Threadgill, grandchildren, Jason Todd (Mickie), Christy Spann (Gary), Amanda Franks (Jeremy), Alisha Morris (Kevin), Melisha Todd, 7 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, sisters, Linda Gann (Jack), Louise Hollis (Bobby), Judy Lovette (Dale), Pam Threadgill, brother, John Threadgill (Johnnie) and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 20, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. (service time) at the funeral home. Bro. Kent Nelson will be the officiating minister. Burial will follow in the Mt. Mr. James H. Whitehead, age 84 of Winfield, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield. Mr. Whitehead is a United States Air Force Veteran and worked for the 3M Company in Guin for 33 years. James was born April 10, 1933 to Garfield and Ave Joe Berry Whitehead. He is survived by his wife of over 58 years, Ellen Roberts Whitehead, children, Tony Whitehead of Tuscaloosa, Tracy Whitehead (Cassi) of Winfield and Cynthia May of Winfield, grandsons, Dylan Whitehead and Matthew Whitehead, bother, Larry Whitehead (Betty) of Winfield and sisters, Brenda Weeks of Winfield and Patty Ann Spann of Winfield. Mr. Whitehead is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Clyde Darrell Whitehead. Funeral services for Mr. Whitehead will be held Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home chapel with burial to follow in the Morris Cemetery. Rev. Daniel Phillips will be the officiating minister. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Lorene Porter Black, age 68, of Winfield passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018 in the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield. Lorene is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Maxine Stonefield Porter, Jr. She is survived by her children, Loyde Porter Jr. of Winfield, Billy Porter of Winfield, Jessica Porter of Birmingham, Kathryn Porter of Hattiesburg, MS, Rhonda Porter of Purvis, MS, Gina Porter of Winfield, Andy Smith of Haleyville and Joy Smith of Belk, 15 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, sisters, Brenda Newton (Dick) of CO and Cathy Corbin (Scott) of WA, brother, Steven Mayfield of CA, uncle, Roy Guyton of Sulligent and her caregiver for the last 40 years Loyde Porter, Sr. of Winfield. Mrs. Barbara Ann Edmonds, age 79, of Hwy 241 Haleyville near the Whitehouse community, formally of Starkville, MS, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS. Mrs. Edmonds is preceded in death by her husband, Frankie Leo Edmonds, daughter, Glenda Wilson, parents, John M. West and Maxine West Bross, her brother, Neal Ketchum and a great granddaughter, Makayla Dunlap. Barbara is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Broughton (Mike) of Winfield, Theresa Vandiver (Dewayne) of Haleyville and Darleen Johnson of TN, son, James Clegg of TN, grandchildren, Jimmy Edmonds of Brilliant, Candance Cornelius of Haleyville, Shane Wilson of OH, Jennifer Bucy of TN, Jessica Olvera of TN, 15 great grandchildren, her sister, Freda Williams of IL, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
