Mrs. Margaret Marie Smothers, age 87, of Winfield passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 in the Sunset Manor Nursing Facility. Mrs. Smothers was born in Montevallo, Alabama on February 14, 1937 to Charlie and Bernice Milling Sellers. Margaret spent much of her life working in finance and retail sales.
Mrs. Smothers is survived by sons, Raymond and Richard McWhirter, stepchildren, Johnny Smothers (Tina), Jim Smothers, Billy Smothers (Donna), and Faye Daniels (Clyde), grandson Jessie Smothers, and a host of other family members and friends.
Mrs. Smothers was preceded in death by her husband, J.L Smothers, her parents, and brother David Sellers.
A visitation for Mrs. Smothers will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Griggs Place Cemetery.

Georgia Cassandra Terrell better known as “Sally”, age 67, of Winfield passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at her residence. Sally was born in Marion County, Alabama on August 26, 1956, the oldest of 3 children. She was a member of Hodges Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and attended Winfield City High School. Sally spent much of life as a private housekeeper and home manager for many area families. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking and baking, gardening, making sure her home was well kept (especially her kitchen) and spending time with her family. Sally was a strong and faithful woman; she battled breast cancer for many years and had been in remission 18 years at the time of her passing

Sally is survived by her 2 daughters, Amber Terrell and Brandy Evans, mother, Rebecca Terrell, brother, Tony Terrell, sister, Kathy Terrell (Chris Hollister), nephew, Zachary Terrell, nieces, Emma and Mela Hollister, extended family members, Lionel, Nancy, Marvin, Taylor, and Brittany Leathers, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members.

Sally Terrell was preceded in death by her father, Curtis Terrell, grandmother, Catherine Chaney, 2 grandfathers, and an uncle, Lewis Chaney.

Funeral services for Sally were held on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Winfield City Cemetery. The visitation was on Sunday, March 17, 2024 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home. A repast followed the service at the Miles Memorial Funeral Home Banquet Hall.

Mrs. Rita Jo Hall, age 74, of Winfield passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024 in the Fayette Long Term Care Facility. Mrs. Hall was born on April 8, 1949 to A.J. and LaVerne Erwin Mobley. She spent much of her life as a machinist for Hyster-Yake Group in Sulligent. Rita was a very artistic person. She enjoyed painting, sewing, crocheting, and dancing. Rita was also known for being a hard worker and for her dry sense of humor. Her greatest love in life was spending time with her family.

Mrs. Hall is survived by her children, Christina Rodriquez, Dana Bryan, Tracy Mullins (Dennis), and Tony Thompson, a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, siblings, Patricia Miller, Tammy Isom (Charles), and Richard Mobley, and many other family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hall is preceded in death by her daughter, Stephanie Thompson, sister, Sandra Sallings, and a brother, Allen Mobley.

A memorial service for Mrs. Hall will be held on Monday, March 11, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. The visitation will be held on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Myra Blanche Baker, age 96, of Winfield passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024 in the Generations of Vernon Nursing Facility. Mrs. Baker was born in Winfield, Alabama on October 12, 1927 to William Isaac Perry and Hettie Irene Weeks Perry. Blanche was a past member of the Harmony Grove Baptist Church and attended Winfield City High School. After high school she became a cosmetologist and owned and operated Blanche’s House of Charm in Winfield for many years. She later attended Athens State University where she earned her master’s degree in education. Blanche then became a cosmetology instructor, first for Lawson State Community College and later Bevill State Community College, where she remained until her retirement. Blanche was skilled at cooking, art, quilting, and sewing and she thoroughly enjoyed studying her family genealogy.

Mrs. Baker is survived by her sons, Stanley Milford Baker (Alfonso) of Richmond, VA, and Phillip William Baker (Jayne) of Pace, FL, grandchildren, Jaime Amanda Walker (Greg), and Jared Philip Baker (Alyssa), great-grandchildren, Emalyn Ann LeBlanc, and Gabriel Dane LeBlanc, and close friend, Dianne Miles.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her husband, Columbus Milford Baker, daughter-in-law Jane Arleen Baker, and siblings, Redus Perry, Erline Tucker, Labon Perry, and Joe Perry.

Funeral services For Mrs. Baker will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024 commencing with visitation at 12:00 noon followed by a service at 1:00 p.m. at the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel in Winfield. Interment will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Crestview Memorial Gardens in Adamsville, Alabama.
