Mr. William Wade Perry better known as Billy, age 74 of Winfield passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022 in the Princeton Baptist Hospital in Birmingham. Mr. Perry was born in Fayette County, AL on January 15, 1948 to Alton and Melba Aldridge Perry.
Mr. Perry was a member of the Church of Christ and a graduate of Aiken High School in Aiken, SC. In 1970 Billy graduated from the University of Alabama earning his degree in political science. The same day he received his diploma he left for Vietnam with the United States Army. He served his country from 1970 until 1973 as an Army Specialist stationed in Vietnam and Germany. Billy was a co-founder and contributor of the National Museum of the United States Army. He worked in construction for many years assisting with building factories until his retirement. Billy’s fast wit and humor caught everyone off guard and his loyalty to his Alabama Crimson Tide ran deep through his veins.
Billy is survived by his brother, Lloyd Allen Perry and his wife Linda Sue Butler Perry of Jackson, TN, nephews Evan, Ryan and Rhett Perry, and a host of cousins and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Rocky Perry.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 1:00 p.m., Elm Church of Christ Cemetery near Winfield.
