Mr. Ray Alexander, age 86 of Winfield passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2021.

Ray was born on August 24, 1934 in Beaverton, Alabama to Clyde Alexander and Mary Helen Weeks Alexander. He was a member of the Winfield First United Methodist Church. Ray was a 1952 graduate of Sulligent High School and a proud 1956 graduate of Auburn University. Mr. Alexander was owner/operator of Alexander Drugs in Winfield for 40 years, continuing service to his customers well after the close of business day. Upon selling his drug store, he worked as a fill-in pharmacist in various locations. Ray was very involved with the Kiwanis Club in Winfield; he and Dr. Aubrey Sewell worked together in forming the Mid-Day Kiwanis Club. During his time with Kiwanis International, Ray held many offices and served the organization in many statewide capacities. Ray was also an active member of Gideons International, serving this organization until his death, most recently with the Lamar County Camp.  Mr. Alexander was a true servant; he was always contributing to and serving for these organizations in various ways and roles for many years. Mr. Alexander was a true Auburn man, a wearer of brightly colored clothing, soft-spoken, a fan of vocabulary, loyal to Beaverton, loved his wife Mary deeply, and loved his children and grandchildren, his church, and his God.

He is survived by his daughter, Jill Satcher of Northport, AL, sons, Tom Alexander (Cindy) of Havelock, NC and Chuck Alexander of Madison, AL, his grandchildren, Jeremy Satcher, Daniel Satcher, Janie Alexander DeWitt (Vince) and Hannah Alexander and sisters, Judy Alexander of Hamilton, AL and Phyllis Alexander of Seneca, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, church family and other close relatives and friends.  Mr. Alexander was preceded in death by wife, Mary Helen Hollis Alexander, his parents, Clyde and Mary Helen Weeks Alexander, a sister, Sue Anderson and daughter-in-law, Lydia Campbell Alexander.

Funeral services for Mr. Alexander will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. from the Winfield First United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Winfield City Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. (service time) at the church.   In lieu of flowers the family request a donation to Gideons International for Bibles, or a gift to the Winfield First United Methodist Church Endowment Fund at P. O. Box 387 Winfield, AL 35594, to be made in Ray’s memory. The Alexander family prefer that mask or face cover be worn during the visitation and funeral services for Mr. Alexander but is not required.
