Mr. James Allen Dozier, age 68 of Northport formerly of Hubbertville, lost his battle with cancer and passed peacefully early Saturday morning, April 4, 2020 at his residence.

James was born on April 18, 1951 in Fayette County, Alabama to Verlon Jackson Dozier and Nannie Bea Brazil Dozier. He was the oldest of nine children. James grew up in Hubbertville, Alabama and attended Hubbertville High School. James helped his parents farm in the summer time and would work logging with Larry Hubbert in the winter. He later joined the Army National Guard, received his GED and joined the Army Reserves. He retired from the Army Reserves after 28 years then worked for Sipsey Valley Supply, Inc. in Tuscaloosa. James was a hard worker teaching his children and grandchildren a good work ethic. He could build and fabricate anything. He enjoyed time outdoors, fishing and working in his shop, on cars and trucks to lawn mowers to tractors and lawn tractors. James took up the hobby of lawn tractor pulling with his son, David, his brother, Jacky and five of his grandchildren and started the “Dozier Pull Team”. James enjoyed spending time with his family, his brothers and sisters, children, grandchildren and his friends. He was a humble man that would do anything for anyone no matter who they were.

James is survived by his wife of 25 years, Barbara Dozier of Northport, his son, David Dozier (Shana) and daughter, April Dozier Tidwell (Tony) both of Hubbertville, grandchildren, Evan, Daisy, Ronnie, Miles, Grayson, Michille Chism (Todd), Crystal, great grandchildren, Hunter, Bailey, Lily, Leona, Alexander “Alex”,  sisters, Karen Tucker (Dennis), Janice Kay Owens (Steve), Bobbie McGraw (Bill), brothers, Jacky Dozier (Annette), Jimmy Dale Dozier (Susan), Wayne Dozier, Andy Dozier, and Donald Dozier, brother in laws, Sonny Stringer (Dora) and Edwin Stringer (Connie) and a host of nieces, nephews and other close family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Verlon Jackson Dozier and Nannie Bea Brazil Dozier and his stepdaughter, Lori Whatley.

A graveside service was held on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. from the Hubbertville Church of Christ. Jerry Dozier was the officiating minister. Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Dozier family.
