Mr. U. L. Long, age 90, of Eldridge, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at his residence. Mr. Long was a member of the Eldridge Church of Christ and a United States Army Veteran. He was very proud and well known for his carpentry skills, he worked in the coal mines most of his working life until his retirement.

1. U. L. is survived by his wife of 53 years, Glynda Tidwell Long, son, James Long (Jessica “Peaches”) of Eldridge, daughter, Sabrena Long Handley (Mike) of Winfield, grandchildren, Drew Long (Mallory) of Eldridge, Allie Sims (Kyle) of Hamilton, Jacob Handley of Decatur, and Austin Handley of Winfield, and a sister, Patsy Tucker of Eldridge and a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Long was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Benjamin Long and Rosa Savannah Lambert Long, sisters, Clara Long Farris, Christine Long Farris, Opal Long Armstrong and Cleo Long, brothers, Bill Long, Cecil Long, Ellis Long and Charles Ray Long.

The funeral service for Mr. Long will be held on Friday, February 7, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. from the Eldridge Church of Christ, with burial to follow in the Kelley Cemetery. Gilbert Behel, Lonnie Ingram and Derek Porter officiated the service.
