Willie Joe McClinton, 75, departed his life on October 11, 2018 at Diversicare in Winfield, Alabama.

Willie Joe McClinton was born in this world through the union of Willie Lee McClinton and Claytese Nalls on September 11, 1943.

Prior to his illness, Willie was a hard worker in the church, where he served in various capacities. He loved to sing, not only at his home congregation but also while visiting other congregations.

Willie had a strong work ethic. He worked as a certified electrician in the coal mines for 27 years until his retirement in 2001. Prior to working in the coal mines, Willie worked as a mechanic at the Chevrolet Dealership in Winfield, AL. And he was a strong advocate of education. He always encouraged his girls and grandchildren to get as much “schooling” as they possibly could get. While wearing his ‘signature’ overalls, Willie once visited one of Tywana’s classes and spent some time with her students. And his absolute favorite hobbies were deer hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Lee McClinton; his mother, Claytese Nalls; one sister, Jean Nalls; and two brothers, Edward McClinton and Ronnie Montgomery.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 55 years, Willie Rose McClinton; two daughters, Rena Brown-Dove (Albert) of Anchorage, Alaska and Tywana McClinton of Sheffield, AL; two grandchildren, Joel Brown (Andrea) of Concord, California and Jasmine Brown of Anchorage, Alaska; four sisters, Dorothy Jean Wilson, Teresa A. Nalls, Teresa Franks (Jerome), and Natasha Nalls; three brothers, Ben E. Nalls, Kenneth Nalls, and Tommy Montgomery (Patricia); James E. Byrd, Tywana’s fiancé; one special friend, Boyd Pate; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. McClinton will be held on Friday October 19, 2018 at 12:00 noon from the Piney Grove Church of Christ. Terry Wallace, Sr. will be the officiating minister. Burial will follow in the Piney Grove cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2018 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel.
