Betty L. Whitehead, age 76, of Winfield passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by the love of her family. Betty was born in Hamilton, AL on March 15, 1950, to Paul and Willie Mae Sanderson Nix. She and her husband shared many years together as the owners and operators of Betty’s Fabric, later known as Warehouse Fabrics, where they proudly served their community for 35 years. From a young age, Betty had a love for the outdoors and the beauty of nature. That love remained a special part of her life throughout the years, and she especially enjoyed gardening and watching things grow. Betty had a wonderful zest for life and cherished every opportunity to make memories with those she loved. Whether she was relaxing while watching her favorite western, traveling and vacationing, spending time with her family, or enjoying the company of her sisters, with whom she shared a close bond.

Betty is survived by her husband, Larry Whitehead; her daughters, Rita Norris and Tanya Gilbert (Dann); her grandchildren, Blake Norris (Ashley), Heath Norris (Brandi), Celeste Pollard, Kaelon Pollard, Tristan Gilbert (Ashley), Kirstyn Smith (Brayden), and Hannah Gilbert; her great grandchildren, Bentley, Marleigh, Karson, Tuff, Ella, and Ada Norris, Alvey Gilbert, and Bryson Smith; her siblings, Barbara Mays (Glenn), Doris Mills, Charlotte Speer, Kathy Hawkins (Mike), and James Nix (Tasha); and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Willie Mae Nix; and her son-in-law, Ronald Norris.

A private family graveside service for Mrs. Whitehead will be held at a later date.
