Mrs. Margene Butler, age 76, of Winfield passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026 at Sunset Manor Nursing Facility. Born on December 24, 1949, in Marion County, Alabama. Margene was the daughter of Robert and Lucille Hallmark Sexton. She was a 1968 graduate of Winfield High School and a faithful member of Winfield Church of Christ. Margene dedicated many years of service to Reltoc Industries, where she worked in the warehouse office until her retirement. Her greatest joy in life was her family, especially her beloved grandchildren, who brought her endless happiness. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with them. Margene also enjoyed tending her garden, helping on the farm, preparing delicious meals for those she loved, and playing games with family. Above all else, she had a servant’s heart. Whether caring for family members, friends, or neighbors, she found purpose in helping others and was a compassionate caregiver to many throughout her life.

Mrs. Butler is survived by her husband, Tony Butler; her children, Chad Butler (Kelli) and Kristi Atwell (Ryan); her grandchildren, Bailee Cross (Ryan), Rylee Butler, Dillon Atwell, Kaitlyn Atwell, and Brayden Atwell; her sister, Susan Harris; her in-laws, Loretta Wyers (James), Buddy Butler, Sambo Butler, Lloyd Allen Perry, and Janice Butler; special niece, Kim Aldridge; cousin and best friend, Carloyn Atkins; and a host of other nieces, nephews, and other family members.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Butler was preceded in death by her sister, Peggy Sandlin; he brothers-in-law, Columbus “Toad” Butler and Scotty Sandlin; and her sister-in-law, Linda Sue Perry.

Funeral services for Mrs. Butler will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 12:00 noon from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Winfield City Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon service time at the funeral home.
