Mary Louise Roby, age 90, of Birmingham, formerly of Hubbertville, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. Mrs. Roby was born on August 9, 1935, in Fayette County, Alabama, to the late Hollie Belton and Eva Hollingsworth McCollum. She was a graduate of Hubbertville High School and a faithful member of Pine Lane Church of Christ. Mary began her working career at Miller’s Department Store before continuing on to Family Dollar, where she served as manager. She later began a long and dedicated career in banking, working 23 years at Regions Bank and continuing with Compass Bank until her retirement in 2016. In her spare time, Mrs. Roby enjoyed sewing, crocheting, needlepoint, watching Alabama football, and cooking. She especially loved sharing her meals with family and friends, always taking every opportunity to give to those she loved.
She is survived by her children, Denise Harris and Curtis Roby; grandchildren, Nathan Roby (Sheena) and Chris Roby (Molly); great-grandchildren, Carlie, Hollie, Bentley, and Stevie Roby; sisters-in-law, Betty McCollum and Mary Kate McCollum; brother-in-law, Roland Roby (Kay); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Roby was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Gene Roby; daughter-in-law, Kathy Roby; and siblings, Ray, Pete, James, Jerry, and Larry McCollum and Sandra Gerrard Taylor.
Funeral services for Mrs. Roby will be held on Saturday, February 14, at 11:00 a.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in Whites Chapel Church of Christ Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., service time, at the funeral home.
