Rev. Jerry W. Williams, age 91 of Winfield, AL passed from this life on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, in the Northwest Medical Center South Campus in Winfield, AL with family around him. Rev. Williams was born on April 23, 1934, in Cheatham County, TN, the son of Thomas Tyree Williams and Ruby Perry Williams. He married Bonnie Clark Graves, his wife of almost 68 years, on December 20, 1957. Together they served the Lord as he pastored 7 churches in 4 states for over 40 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael Lewis Williams and a sister, Peggy Sue Messer.

After graduating in 1953 from East High School in Nashville, TN, he entered the U.S. Navy in November of that year and served until September 1957. Upon his return from the service, he began studying at Free Will Baptist Bible College (Welch College) in Nashville, TN where he was employed by Nashville Transit Company as a city bus driver.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Graves Williams of Winfield, AL, two sons, Danny (Karen) Williams of Winfield, AL, and Thomas (Corinna) Williams of Valparaiso, FL, granddaughters: Bethany Campbell (Cullman, AL), Heather Marck (Madison, AL), Audrey Tooley (Rushville, IN), Hollis Williams (Valparaiso, FL), Jessica Gonce (Church Hill, TN) and Jamie Mabe (Surprise, AZ), great grandchildren: Levi, Adeline, Forrest, Jacson, Alder, Madalynn, and Kai.

In addition to driving city and school buses, Rev. Williams was also a very good painter who always expected excellence. He enjoyed traveling, reading, playing and watching sports such as softball, baseball, corn hole, and golf. In his later years, he spent time coloring in coloring books. He always enjoyed spending time with family.

His love was teaching God’s Word and praying for others. His pastorates included Dumbar Chapel (TN), Zephyr Hills (NC), Shady Grove (TN), Crossroads (GA), Cedar Hill (NC), Bellevue (GA), and Springfield (AL). He did not seek the limelight but was interested in people as individuals. Only heaven will reveal how many people were impacted by his life and ministry.

Funeral services for Rev. Williams will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from the Winfield Freewill Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Old Union Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. service time at the church.
