Mrs. Mary Catherine Wagnon Hendrix, better known as Bill or Billie by her family and friends, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025, in the Walker Baptist Hospital in Jasper, Alabama. Billie was born in Fayette County, Alabama on May 6, 1934 to Cornelius Oliver and Ludie Henderson Wagnon. She was a creative lady and a gifted seamstress. She loved gardening, sewing and visiting neighbors and friends. She was an adopted “nanny” to several children for whom she babysat and whom she dearly loved.
Billie lived most of her life in Fayette County but spent the last two years at Sunset Manor in Guin where she enjoyed games and other social activities with the other residents. She was a long-time member of New Hope Baptist Church in Winfield.
Billie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend and will be missed by her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roy Lee Hendrix, brothers, Mavin Wagnon and James Wagnon, sisters, Louise, Bozeman, Marie Tipler, Ethel Christian, three infant siblings and her special friend, Kermit Quinton Harbin.
She is survived by her daughter, Juanita Holliman and her husband, James Arther Holliman of Winfield, a granddaughter, Amy Armstrong and her husband, Brandon Armstrong, great grandson, Aiden James Armstrong of Haleyville, her adopted family, David, Shana, Evan and Miles Dozier of Hubbertville, five nieces and a nephew, as well as a large group of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Billie will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home chapel with burial to follow in the El Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery near Fayette. The visitation will be held on Thursday from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.
