Danny Lou was born in the family home outside of Winfield, on August 11, 1931. She graduated from Winfield High School, and later from nursing school in San Angelo, Texas. After working for many years as a nurse, she retired and moved back home to Winfield, where she enjoyed living in her “cabin,” working in her yard, quilting, and cooking. She enjoyed making gift packages of cookies and breads at Christmastime and delivering them to friends. Danny Lou knitted caps for cancer patients, mailing some off to hospitals and non-profit organizations on a regular basis and delivering others locally. She also enjoyed her family coming to visit, shopping, and eating lunch at Aroma’s.
After suffering a stroke in 2019, she resided at Morningview Estates Assisted Living in Fayette, Alabama. She recently moved to Fayette Long Term Care. Her family would like to thank the staff, volunteers, and Hospice at both facilities.
At her request, there will be no memorial service. She will be laid to rest in the Goodwater Cemetery.
