Mrs. Byrd was born in Haleyville, Alabama on September 6, 1950 to Berlon and Wilma Hightower Ballard. She attended the Barnesville Freewill Baptist Church and was a 1968 graduate of Hamilton High School where she served as homecoming queen and cheerleader. After high school she attended Northwest Alabama Technical College where she earned her barber certificate. June worked in the community as a barber until the birth of her children.
