Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Nix, age 86, of Winfield entered into her Heavenly home on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at her daughter’s home surrounded by family and friends. Mrs. Nix was born on December 2, 1937, In Fayette, Alabama to Edd and Icy Tidwell Tucker. Mary was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandma, and friend to many. She was well known as “Nanny” to her grandkids. She spent many years employed with Cotler Manufacturing at the Reltoc plant, after its closing she began working for Northwest Regional Health where she later retired after 23 years of service. When she wasn’t working, Mary enjoyed working in her beautiful flower garden, reading her Bible, shopping, and spending time with her beloved family and friends.

Mrs. Nix is survived by her daughter, Brenda K. Miller, sister, Nerlean Howton, a special niece, Rena Johnson, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

Mrs. Nix was preceded in death by husband, Woodrow Nix, her parents, Edd and Icy Tucker, sons, Billy Ray Nix and Sammy Nix, son-in-law, Douglas R. Miller, and siblings, Loraine Schmitt, Willie C. “Bally” Tucker, Edward “Cooney” Tucker, Gairy “Buddy” Tucker, and Louise Tucker.

Funeral services for Mrs. Nix will be held on Saturday, April 27 at 1:00 p.m. from The Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Fairview Methodist Church Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Saturday from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.
