Mrs. Frances H. Cromwell

Mrs. Frances H. Cromwell, age 85 of Winfield, in the Wayside community, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2013, at her residence.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Elias Cromwell, a daughter, Kathryn Bleming, and 2 sons, Robert and Gary Cromwell.  Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Stafford (Ben) of Winfield, grandchildren, Jennifer Santana of Florida, and April Stafford of Vernon, 6 great grandchildren, a sister Dorothy Quintana of Florida, and a brother Butch Filo of Connecticut.   Memorial service arrangements for Mrs. Cromwell will be announced at a later date.

Mrs. Hazel Rye

Mrs. Hazel Rene' Rye, age 76 of Winfield, passed away on Saturday evening, June 8, 2013 at Golden Living Center in Winfield.  Mrs. Rye was preceded in death by her husband, Joe V. Rye, her parents, Velmon and Leola Tidwell Carter, a brother, Drolan Carter, and a grandson, Jeremey Hawkins.  She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Hawkins Boover (Johnny) of Sipsey Forks, MS and Joyce Rye of Winfield, grandsons, Brandon Hawkins of Winfield, Zachery Barrett of Brandon, FL and Clint Boover of Sipsey Forks, MS, great granddaughter, Taylor Hawkins of Sulligent, AL, a sister, Brenda Benson (Bobby) of Winfield, two aunts, and many cousins, neices, nephews, and other relatives anfd friends. Funeral Services for Mrs. Rye will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Winfield City Cemetery. Bro. Bill Duncan and Bro. Earnest Sargent will be the officiating ministers.  Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield directing. 

Mrs. Mary Ann Pridmore

Mrs. Mary Ann Pridmore, age 64 of Winfield, Alabama passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2013 in the UAB Medical Center in Birmingham.  Beloved wife, mother and grandmother; Mrs. Pridmore was a 1966 graduate of Westmont High School in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, recieved her RN degree from the Mercy School of Nursing, and worked as a nurse for over 40 years.  She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Claire Buser Meehan.  Mary Ann is survived by her devoted husband, Charles F. Pridmore Jr. of Winfield, daughter, Colleen Marie Pridmore of North Carolina, a son, Scott A. Pridmore (Shelly) of Maryland, grandchildren, Gabriel Lucas, Hannah Lucas,Logan Pridmore, and Xavier Pridmore, Mother in law, Frances R. Soule of Winfield, and father in law, Charles F. Pridmore Sr. (Norma) of Greenville, SC.  Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2013, from the Winfield First Baptist Church. Dr. Charles Ballew will officiate.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. (service time)  on Thursday at the church.  Burial will follow on Friday in the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo.  Services can be viewed "live streaming" on Thursday evening at, go to the "services" tab to view.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield directing. 

Mr. Leasle Evans

Mr. Leasle Evans, age 88 of Winfield, passed away Monday, June 3, 2013 at his residence.  Mr. Evans was a a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, serving on the U.S.S. Breese,  and worked for Smithson Refrigeration as a appliance specialist for 40 years.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Mary A. Dickinson Evans, brother, J.E. Evans, and a grandson, Duane Post.  Mr. Evans is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Hill Evans of Winfield, daughter, Debbie Ardiano of Winfield, son, Frank "Tommy" Evans of McCalla, grandchildren, William Post of Birmingham, Michelle Post, Stephen Post, and Nicole Post all of Northport, Austin Woolbright and Emily Woolbright of Lakeview, AL, and Devin Hyde of Devin Hyde of MaCalla, AL, sisters, Ruby Shadle of Glendale, AZ, Pearl Stanford of Russelville, AL, Lora Manasco of Moline, IL and Edith Sandlin of Winfield, brother, Grady Evans of Winfield, and a special sister in law Virginia Oden.  A memorial service for Mr. Evans will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel.  Bro. Dustin Aikins will officiate, Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield directing.




Blayke G. Hill

Mr. Blayke Gregory Hill, age 17 of Hubbertville, passed away on May 26, 2013 at his residence.  Blayke was going to be a senior at Hubbertville High School this fall.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Angie Moore Hill Thompson, grandfather, Thomas J. Hill, great grandparents, Winfred Baumgartner, Woodrow Moore, and Grady & Patty Baccus.  Blayke is survived by his father, Greg Thomas (Felisha) Hill, brothers, Blaine Thomas and Brennon Hill, Sabashton Harris, and Drake Thompson, grandmother, Sherlon Hill, grandparents, Buddy and Eloise Moore, great grandmothers, Corene Baumgartner and Ruby J. Moore,  aunt, Myra (Ben ) Miles, uncles, Trent (Kacy) Hill, Donnie (Denena) Moore, cousins, Shawn and Melaina Miles, Braylon and Jase Hill, Eric and Valerie Moore, Amanda (RJ) Cole, and Trevor Gabbie, his girlfriend, Samantha Nairemore.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 28th, 2013 from the Berea Church of Christ with burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery.  Jimmie McNeese will officiate.  Blayke will lie in state at the church for visitation from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. (service time) on Tuesday.  Landon Miller, Austin Bourland, Devin Marcum, Dakota Dozier, Brandon Smith, Jordan White, T J Pratt, Chuck Ginther, Spencer Benton and Shawn Miles will serve as active pallbearers and the Hubbertville High School football team and coaches will be honorary pallbearers.
