Mrs. Susie White

Heaven gained a new angel on November 1, 2015 at 6:30 a.m.  Mrs. Susie Mason White, age 88 of Birmingham, formerly of Winfield, passed away on Sunday in the Cottages at St. Martin's in the Pines in Birmingham.  Susie was born on April 4th, 1927 in Birmingham, AL, the daughter of the late Daniel L. and Susie Meyer Mason.  She was married on May 18th, 1946 to the Late Harold White.  Susie will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to her family, and a caring friend to countless others whose lives she touched.  Mrs. White is survived by her sons, Harold (Elaine) White of Pinson, Daryl White of Winfield, Jeff (Terri) White of Pinson, Greg (Rebekah) White of Kimberly, and Robert (Michele) White of Birmingham, grandchildren, Michelle (Bobby) Stover, Amy (Wayne) Curry, Brittany White, Garrett White, and Braden White, great grandchildren, Chase Stover, Michael Stover, Savannah Curry, Chandler Curry, and Dalton Sparks. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4th, at Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Winfield City Cemetery.  The visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. (service time) on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield Serving the White family.   

Ms. Kris M. Clair

Ms. Krisenda M. Clair, age 51 of Winfield passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2015.  She was preceded in death by grandparents, Athel Guin, Knowlton Morrison, and Nora Morrison Sullins.  Kris is survived by her Mother, Judy Morrison of Winfield, father, Thomas Morrison of Birmingham, 3 sons, Matthew, Gabriel, and Adam Clair all of Birmingham, a sister, Ann Grice (Nelson) of Birmingham,  grandmother, Johnnie Guin of Winfield, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and other relatives and friends.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015 from Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.  Dr. Kenny Hatcher will officiate.  The visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 p.m. (service time) on Saturday at the funeral home. Mrs. Dot South

Mrs. Dorothy Payne South, better known as Dot, age 96 of Winfield, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2015 at Northwest Medical Center in Winfield.  A graveside service for Mrs. South will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, at Winfield City Cemetery.  Bro. Wayne Overton Will officiate.  Mrs. South was preceded in death by her husband Bob South and a brother Billy Payne.  She is survived by her sisters, Betty Vanslager and Louise Carpenter, and a brother, Buddy Payne, all of California.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the South family. 

Mrs. Vera Mae Rich

Mrs. Vera Mae Rich, age 92 of Twin, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 in the DCH Regional Medical Center in Fayette.  Mrs. Rich was a member of Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church and was employed with HealthTex with over 20 years of service.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Addie Parr Taylor, a son, James Gaylon Rich, 4 brothers, Leonard Taylor, Arnold Taylor, Murray Taylor and Carmol Taylor, 2 sisters, Wilma Weeks and Ruth Dodd, a great granddaughter, Heather Hendrix, and a son-in-law, Clinton Barnes. She is survived by 3 daughters, Evelyn Sue Hosch (Willie) of Winfield, Imogene Barnes of Twin, and Loretta Dunavant (Danny) of Guin,  12 grandchildren, Rex (Sarita) Hosch, Hoyt Hosch, Becky (Tommy) Cochran, Doug (Ann) Barnes, Teresa (Allen) Hendrix, David (Deloris) Barnes, Ray  (Mary) Rich, Kevin (Sandy) Rich, Jeff (Jennifer) Rich, Melonie (Matt) Tinsley, Daniel (Mandy) Dunavant, and Jerod (Jessie) Dunavant, and a sister in law, Louise Taylor.  Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015 from the Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church with burial to follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery.  Bro. Mike Beckon will officiate.  The visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. service time on Saturday at the church.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Rich family. 

Colin David Norris

Colin David Norris, age 19 of Winfield, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2015.  Colin was born on August 1, 1996.  He was a 2015 graduate of Winfield City High School and was currently serving as an Ambassador at Bevill State Community College.  

He was a member of Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church, and was employed by Rick Bolling at Hospital Discount Pharmacy in Vernon. 

Colin was preceded in death by his grandfather, Johnny Earnest and step grandfather, Bill McDaniel. He is survived by his parents, John and Dana Earnest Norris, brothers, Tyler and Gavin Norris, all of Winfield, grandparents, Deanna McDaniel of Bear Creek and David and Lana Norris of Winfield, aunts and uncles, Christy (Kenny) Lloyd, and Jason (Hallie) Norris of Winfield, cousins, Molly Norris, Kade Lloyd and Karson Lloyd all of Winfield, and his girlfriend, Shelby Pate of Millport. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21st from the Winfield First Baptist Church. The visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. (service time) on Wednesday at the church. Burial to follow in the Old Union Cemetery. Brother David Crowe will be the officiating minister.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Colin David Norris Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Citizens Bank of Winfield.
