Mr. Earl Tidwell

Mr. Earl Tidwell passed away Sunday April 20, 2014 at his residence.  Mr. Tidwell age 76 was born on November 22, 1937 to Mr. William R. and Mrs. Ethel Dozier Tidwell.  He is survived by his wife Marilyn Heathcock Tidwell, one daughter Tracy Tidwell, two sons, Phillip Wayne and James Earl (Patricia) Tidwell, five grandchildren, Justin (Candace) McWhirter, Stacey Herron, Scotty, Darrell and Jamie Tidwell, three great grandchildren, Skylar and Dawson Earl Tidwell and Alyssa McWhirter.  Mr. Tidwell was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, J.T., Bunk and Billy Joe Tidwell and one sister, Agnes Tidwell.  Graveside services were held on Sunday April 20, 2014 at 5 p.m. at  Peter Tidwell Cemetery near Eldridge. Mrs. Billie Faye Strickland Rawls

Mrs. Billie Faye Strickland Rawls, age 73 of Brilliant, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at her residence.  Mrs. Rawls was a member of the Goldmine Church of Christ.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Zack and Rosa Threadgilll Shirley, a husband, Mr. George Leonard Strickland, a grandson, Zackery Hooper, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.  Survivors include her husband, Mr. James Harold Rawls, daughters, Regina Hooper (Tony) of Houston, MS, and Tammy Cummings (Jeff) of Brilliant, sons, Marty Strickland and Joey Strickland of Brilliant, step children, Brett (Tamatha) Rawls of Colorado and DeAnna (Matthew) Cullum of Nashville, TN.  Grandchildren, Aja and Cassidy Hooper, Dakota Cummings, and Emma Grace Strickland, a great grandson, Ethan Soper, and several neices, nephews, and other relatives and friends.  Funeral Services will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel.  Jerry Self will officiate.  The visitation will be from 4:30  until 6:30 p.m. (service time) on Tuesday at the funeral home.  Burial will follow on Wednesday, April 23, at Goldmine Cemetery.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Rawls family. 

Mrs. Jeanette M. Burleson

Mrs. Jeanette McCaleb Burleson, age 79 of Winfield, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at her residence.  Mrs. Burleson was a 1952 Graduate of Brilliant High School, a member of the Winfield Church of Christ, a devoted and loving wife, mother and Nana.  She enjoyed raising her children and being a "second mom" to many others,  supervising many football and baseball games on the field near her home, she also loved tending to her thriving tupperware business for many years.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Diana Burleson Dodd, her parents, Houston and Lois Dodd McCaleb, and a sister Joyce Ann McCaleb.  Mrs. Burleson is survived by her husband of 61 years, William B. Burleson of Winfield, son, David Burleson of Winfield, Grandchldren, Kacie (Josh) Coats of Fayette, Kayla (Brock) Rush of Fairhope, and Cody Dodd of Fairhope, great grandchildren, Karlee and Blade Coats, a brother. John (Beth) McCaleb of Decatur, a sister, Sue (David) Smith of Decatur, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.  Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2014 from the Winfield Church of Christ with burial to follow in the Winfield City Cemetery.  James Wyers will be the officiating minister.  Mrs. Burleson will lie in state at the church from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. (service time) on Sunday.  Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, at the funeral home.  Ken Kendrick, Phillip Harrod, Brian Smith, Jesse Houston McCaleb, Bo Ellsworth, and Ben Miles will serve as pallbearers.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Burleson family. 

Mr. Joshua Powell

Mr. Joshua Carrington Powell, age 35 of Winfield, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014, at U.A.B. Medical Center in Birmingaham.  Josh was preceded in death by his mother, Robin Turner Powell, grandparents, Charles and Edna Powell, and grandfather, Rodney Turner.  He is survived by his father, Grady Powell (Cathy) of Winfield, his wife, Nichole Winters Powell of Winfield, grandmother, Barbara Turner of Richmond, VA, aunt, Kathy Morris (Bill), uncles, Ed Powell, Craig Powell (Valerie), Kenneth Turner (Donna) and Rodney "Willie" Turner (Cheryl), several  cousins and numerous other relatives and friends.  Funeral Service for Josh are scheduled for 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 6, 2014 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Zion Missionary Baptist Church cemetery. Bro. Pat Powell officiating.  Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 pm (Service time) on Sunday at the funeral home.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Powell family. 

Mr. George W. McDonald

Mr George Washington McDonald Jr., age 92 of Winfield, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2014 at Northwest Medical Center in Winfield. Mr. McDonald was a long time truck driver, loved to work in his garden, and served in the U.S. Army Air Corp in the South Pacific during WWII on the Island of Tinian.  He was preceded in death by his parents, George Washington McDonald Sr. and Era Mae Floyd McDonald, a grandson, Quentin McDonald, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.  Mr. McDonald is survived by his children, Mike (Diane) McDonald of Ocala, FL, Paul (Janice) McDonald of Orlando, FL, Linda (Richard) Weeks of Winter Haven, FL, and Lonice (Jim) Nabors of Winfield, grandchildren, Ronny Blue, Ryan Weeks, and Wendy Weeks Thorton, great grandchildren, Michelle Studdard, Alisha Clark, Grace Thorton, Asher Thornton, and Aubrey Weeks, and one great great grandson, Brody Studdard.  Funeral  services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2014 from Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Rev. C.J. Townsend wil officiate.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the McDonald family.
