Johnna M. Gibbs

Miss. Johnna Marlane Gibbs, age 18 of Brilliant, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2015.  Johnna was a 2015 graduate and salutatorian of Brilliant High School.  She was active in all sports, including volleyball, Basketball, and track. She was awarded the Presidential Scholarship to attend Bevill State College where she was a member of the S.G.A. and Phi Theta Kappa.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Ruth Gibbs, and Royal Martin.  Johnna is survived by her parents, Kristy Martin of Brilliant and  James (Shandra) Gibbs of Brilliant, sisters, Kayla (Jeremiha) Cole of Winfield, and Morgan Gibbs of Brilliant, brothers, Sage and Blade Brasher of Winfield, grandparents, Elvis and Rita Bailey of Hamilton, R.B. and Elizabeth Guin of Brilliant, and Diane Martin of Winfield, a nephew, Jase Parker Cole of Winfield, her boyfriend, Andrew Beasley of Winfield, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends.  Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.  Bro. Terry May will officiate.  The visitation will be from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m. (service time) Sunday at the funeral home.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Gibbs family.   

Mrs. Lucille Abbott Reid

Mrs. Lucille Abbott Reid, age 85 of Clay Township Michigan, formerly of Brilliant,  passed away on Friday, December 4th, 2015 at her residence in Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Dewey and Nora Sexton Abbott, her husband, Horace Jack Reid, a daughter, Diane Chapman, and a sister, Virginia McCarn.  She is survived by her Children,  James (Diane) Reid of Centerline, MI, Jack Reid of Livonia, MI, Susan (Anthony) Peterson of Algonac, MI, and John (Kelly) Reid of St. Clair Shores, MI, grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Chapman, Lisa Sullens, James Glutting, Chad Reid, Jamey Reid, Jacklyn Miller, Brandy Reid, Zachary Miller, Miranda Moore, John Ryan Moore, Simon Moore, John Michael Reid, Anastasia Michelle Reid, and Leland Ozee, 17 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, siblings, J.D. Abbott of Morena Valley, CA, Tommie Wood of Anderson, IN, and Roy Abbott of Omaha, NE and a son-in-law, James Chapman of Centerline, MI.  Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 10th from the Bowen Funeral Home chapel with burial to follow in the Brilliant Memorial Gardens.  A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Reid family.  

Mrs. Linda G. Parish


Mrs. Linda G. Parish, 67, of Winfield, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.  She was preceded in death by her parents, A.C. and Beulah Smith Obanion.  Mrs. Parish is survived by her husband, Daniel Parish, 3 sons, Milton Achord, Lee (Arlene) Achord and Matthew (Hannah) Parish, 2 daughters, Melissa Achord and Lori Achord, 8 grandchildren, Amber Jones, Michael Robertson (Megan), Brittany Achord, McKayla (KC) Wells, Brandon Parish, Emily Parish, Danny Parish, and Jason (Ashlee) Teal, 5 great grandchildren, Caleb Wells, Kenzie Papiani Parish, Wyatt, Carter and Jayden Teal.  Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, December 4, 2015 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens.  Mike Edwards, Randall Parish, Grant Webb and Matthew Parish will officiate. The visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. (service time) Friday, December 4, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. at Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Wayne Robert Jordan

Mr. Wayne Robert Jordan Sr. age 71 of Winfield, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015, at Northwest Medical Center in Winfield.  Mr. Jordan was a coal miner and U.S. Army Veteran.  He was  preceded in death by his parents, Ralph L. and Ruby Leach Jordan, and his daughter, Leslie Michelle Jordan.  He is survived by his sons, Travis Jordan and Wayne Robert Jordan Jr.,   a sister, Jacqueline Hill, nephews, Lance Rickles and Gary Goodwin, and many other relatives and friends.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 7, 2015 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in the Griggs Place Cemetery.  Dr. Paul Murphy will officiate.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Monday (service time) at the funeral home.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Jordan Family. 

Mrs. Nina J. Webster

Mrs. Nina Jo Webster, age 82 of Winfield, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Northwest Medical Center in Winfield.  Mrs. Webster was a member of Winfield First Baptist Church, and was co-owner/operator of Webster's Bargain Center in Guin for many years.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Benton and Edna Sullivan Mills, a sister, Norma Lee Lawrence, and a brother, Norman Mills.  She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Clinton Webster, 2 sons, Clinton Webster, Jr. (Shirla) of Northport, and Randy Webster (Cindy) of Winfield, grandchildren, Mahala Martin (Scotty) of Moody, and Sam Webster and Haley Webster of Winfield, great grandchildren, Katelyn Dodd, McKain Martin, Sara Martin, and Izzy Martin,  step grandchildren, Heath Spann (Christy) of Twin, Wesley Loggins (Kim) of Brookwood, and Alan Spann (Gina) of Northport, step great grandchildren, Tyler Loggins, Brandon Loggins, Caleb Loggins, Lynsey Spann, Avery Spann, Alana Spann and Kensley Spann, a nephew, Don Lawrence (Lana) of Brilliant, and an uncle, Troy Sullivan of Jackson, TN.  Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Harmony Grove Cemetery. Dr. Mac Adkins and Dr. Paul Murphy will officiate.  Visitation will be held form 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. (service time) on Sunday at the funeral home.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Webster family.
