Obituaries

Billie Sue Crowell Busbee

Mrs. Billie Sue Crowell Busbee age 74 of the Twin community, passed away on Saturday, January 2nd at her residence.  She was preceded in death by her parents Taylor Elwood and Allie Mae Pate Price, husbands Charles Cecil Crowell and J. C. Busbee, a brother Ray Von Price, sisters Edrena Price, Ruth Duncan, and Maudean Stripling, son in law Gary Bridgeman, and a infant grandson Jody Allen Crowell.  She is survived by her daughters Karen Bridgeman of Guin and Leisa Shaw (Greg) of Hubbertville, son Charles Clinton Crowell (Mary) of Sulligent, grandchildren Luke Bridgeman (Audra), Kari Bridgeman, David Alan Shaw (Tracy), Tony Shaw (Jennifer), Barron Wayne Crowell, and Rebecca Ann Crowell, great grandchildren Gavin and Elliott Bridgeman, Hollie and Brady Shaw, and Hannah and Oakley Shaw, sisters Eloise Nevins of Columbus, Mississippi, Betty Brock (Johnny) of Demopolis, Linda James of Ethelsville, and DeLane Hathcock (Billy) of Atmore, and special friend Charlie Jones of Twin.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 5th at 11:00 am at the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Hillcrest Church of Christ Cemetery.  The visitation will be held on Monday, January 4th from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.  Bowen Funeral Home serving the Busbee family. 

Dwight Brock

Mr. Dwight Brock, age 50 of Kenosha Wisconsin, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee.  Dwight was born on May 14, 1965 in Haleyville, AL, the son of Donald and Edweana Cummings Brock.  Dwight was educated in the schools of Chicago and Lockport, IL.  Dwight was employed as a bagger at Pick-N-Save for over 15 years, where he loved to work.  He was a member of Central Church of Christ.  His hobbies included watching and playing sports, cheering for the Packers and Cubs, doin puzzles, riding his bike, bowling with Keith, and most of all, spending time with family and friends.  He is survived by his mother, Edweana Brock of Kenosha, sisters, Donella Brock of Chicago, IL, Debbie Brock of Kenosha, WI, Liz (Mike) Wilson of Libertyville, IL, nieces, Miranda Rivera, Madison and Ashley Wilson, nephews, Jody Rivera, Keith Swier-Brock, and Max Wilson, and a host of other relatives and friends.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 30th at Kenosha Funeral Home in Wisconsin. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 3rd,  at Brock Church of Christ Cemetery near Brilliant.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Brock family with local arrangements.

Johnna M. Gibbs

Miss. Johnna Marlane Gibbs, age 18 of Brilliant, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2015.  Johnna was a 2015 graduate and salutatorian of Brilliant High School.  She was active in all sports, including volleyball, Basketball, and track. She was awarded the Presidential Scholarship to attend Bevill State College where she was a member of the S.G.A. and Phi Theta Kappa.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Ruth Gibbs, and Royal Martin.  Johnna is survived by her parents, Kristy Martin of Brilliant and  James (Shandra) Gibbs of Brilliant, sisters, Kayla (Jeremiha) Cole of Winfield, and Morgan Gibbs of Brilliant, brothers, Sage and Blade Brasher of Winfield, grandparents, Elvis and Rita Bailey of Hamilton, R.B. and Elizabeth Guin of Brilliant, and Diane Martin of Winfield, a nephew, Jase Parker Cole of Winfield, her boyfriend, Andrew Beasley of Winfield, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends.  Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.  Bro. Terry May will officiate.  The visitation will be from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m. (service time) Sunday at the funeral home.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Gibbs family.   

Rex Sullivan

Mr. Rex Allen Sullivan, age 63 of Winfield, passed away on December 24, 2015 at the Veterans Hospital in Birmingham.  Mr. Sullivan was a U.S. Army Veteran.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Garland H. and Juanita Miles Sullivan.  He is survived by his daughter, Nicole Wyers (Paul) of Winfield, a son, Craig Sullivan (Misty) of Jemison, a sister, Myra Hallmark (Anthony) of Winfield, 5 brothers, Dennis Sullivan (Judy) of Mt. Olive, Michael Sullivan (Nona) of Winfield, Wade Sullivan (Marie) of Winfield, Johnny Sullivan (Sharon) of Winfield, and Stephen Sullivan (Charlotte) of Winfield, 4 grandchildren, Hannah Palmer, Brayden Wyers, Nicholas and Kirsten Sullivan, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.  Memorial services will be held on Sunday, December 27th at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel.  James Wyers will be the officiating minister.  Burial will be in West Alabama Memorial Gardens.  The visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm service time at the funeral home.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Sullivan family. 

Mrs. Lucille Abbott Reid

Mrs. Lucille Abbott Reid, age 85 of Clay Township Michigan, formerly of Brilliant,  passed away on Friday, December 4th, 2015 at her residence in Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Dewey and Nora Sexton Abbott, her husband, Horace Jack Reid, a daughter, Diane Chapman, and a sister, Virginia McCarn.  She is survived by her Children,  James (Diane) Reid of Centerline, MI, Jack Reid of Livonia, MI, Susan (Anthony) Peterson of Algonac, MI, and John (Kelly) Reid of St. Clair Shores, MI, grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Chapman, Lisa Sullens, James Glutting, Chad Reid, Jamey Reid, Jacklyn Miller, Brandy Reid, Zachary Miller, Miranda Moore, John Ryan Moore, Simon Moore, John Michael Reid, Anastasia Michelle Reid, and Leland Ozee, 17 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, siblings, J.D. Abbott of Morena Valley, CA, Tommie Wood of Anderson, IN, and Roy Abbott of Omaha, NE and a son-in-law, James Chapman of Centerline, MI.  Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 10th from the Bowen Funeral Home chapel with burial to follow in the Brilliant Memorial Gardens.  A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Reid family.
