Mr. Norman David Mitchell

Mr. Norman David Mitchell, age 68 of Winfield, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014 in the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield.  David was a member and deacon of the Winfield First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Mitchell, daughter, Katrina Mitchell Smith, and 3 brothers, Jerry, Lamon, and Lymon Mitchell.  He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Mitchell Hayes (Danny) of Fayette, grandchildren, Monica Smith, Justin Hayes, David Hayes (Kathryn), and Kayla Hayes, one great grandchild, Trina Reed, 2 brothers, Willie Mitchell (Janice) of Covington, GA, and Dale Mitchell (Linda) of Fayette, 2 sisters in law, Sylvia Moore (Danny) of Northport, and Elaine Mitchell of Birmingham, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, Dec., 15 From the Winfield First Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the Bethel Baptist Cemetery in Fayette Co. Dr. Paul Murphy and Dr. Charles Ballew will officiate.  The visitation will be from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. (service time) on Monday at the Church.  In lieu of Flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Winfield First Baptist Church Building Fund in memory of David Mitchell.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Mitchell Family. 

Mr, Johnny M. Bray

Mr. Johnny M. Bray, age 71 of Brilliant, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Bray was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence R. and Lora Mae King Bray, his wife of 47 years, Sandra Sue Franks Bray, a son, John Linley Bray, and 3 brothers, Bobby, James and Billy Bray.  He is survived by his daughters, Jimmie Sue Finch (Tim) of Brilliant, & Lora Michelle Cagle of Brilliant, sons, Christopher Scott Bray (Renee) of Hartselle, & John Linley Bray Jr. of Brilliant, grandchildren, Megan Bolton, Cody Finch (Taylor), Daxton Cagle, Morgan Cagle, Grayson Bray and Elliott Bray, great grandchildren, Madilyn and Brayleigh Bolton, Brantley Cagle, Aspen Finch, & Kopen Cagle, 3 sisters, Betty Morton (James) of Jasper, Margie Miles (Jimmy) of Carbon Hill, and Sheila Pschirer (Marvin) of Carbon Hill, and a brother, Clarence Bray (Martha) of Huntsville.  Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14, from Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Brilliant Memorial Gardens.  Bro. Terry May officiating.  Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield Serving the Bray family.   

Mrs. Jewell Shirley

Mrs. Jewell D. Shirley, age 84 of Freeport, FL, formerly of the Brilliant and Winfield areas, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2014 in Defuniak Springs, FL.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Reeder and Stella Allen Bishop, her husband Jack Shirley, a son and daughter in law, Doug and Rosemary Shirley, and a son in law, A.C. Eaton.  Mrs. Shirley is survived by her son, Richard (Terri) Shirley of Winfield, 2 daughters, Sherry Eaton of Jasper and Helen Berryhill (Bill) of Freeport, FL, sisters, Flossie Carter and Ann Evans of Hamilton, a brother William Bishop of Hazel Green, AL, 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.  Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec., 10, 2014 form the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Goldmine Cemetery near Brilliant. Greg Lowery will officiate.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. (service time) on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Shirley family. 

Charles Edward Ingram

Mr. Charles Edward Ingram age 75 of Hamilton, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at his residence.  Mr. Ingram was born November 25, 1939, to  Carrol and Elsie Smith Ingram of Winfield.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Bruce and Sam Ingram and a sister Betty Ingram Wolfe.  He is survived by his wife, Myrtle, son, Greg (Candace) Ingram, of Hamilton, daughters Kristy (Lane) Crosby of Lake, MS, Melissa (Shane) Harris of Hamilton, grandchildren, Kylie Ingram, Charlie Mark Ingram, Justin Crosby, Valyn Crosby and Shelby Harris.  Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 11, 2014 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. (service time) on Thursday at the funeral home.  Brother Bobby Duncan will be the officiating minister.  Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Hamilton.   Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Ingram family.

Mrs. Mavaleen "Pet" Bly

Mrs. Mavaleen Tidwell "Pet" Bly, age 83 of Winfield, passed away on Wednesday, November 26th, 2014 at her residence.  Mrs. Bly was preceded in death by her parents, Rass and Edna Heathcock Tidwell, husbands,  Jack Harris, R.P. Harrison, and George Columbus Bly, a son Larry Harris, granddaughter, Kristi Dooley, great granddaughter, Isabella Dooley, and 2 sisters, Hassie and Augusta Mayfield.  She is survived by her children, Brenda (Jerry) Reese, Jerry Harris, and Linda (Eddie) Norris, grandchildren, Cynthia (Van) Tidwell, Ed (Tiffany) Harris, Jeremy (Julie) Sumners, Shannon (Jason) South, Kimberly Reese Hulsey,  Brandon Norris, Crystal (Clint) Coulon, and Jamie (Amber) Endsley, great grandchildren, Kayla Pendley, Gunner Pendley, Rylee Hulsey, Emma Grace South, Mai Dooley, Raylee Harris, Jackson Tidwell, Easton South, Katelynn Sumners, and Gracelynn Endsley.  step grandchildren, Brian (Dee Dee) Bly, and Karen Bly Harris, step great grandchildren, Julia Bly, Chris Bly, Chase Bly, and Bonnie Shoemaker, and a daughter in law, Pam Harris.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 29th from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with Burial to follow in the White Springs Cemetery.  Scotty Stovall and Ronnie Elmore will officiate.  Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. (service time) on Saturday.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Bly family.
