Judson B. Miller

Mr. Judson Burnette Miller, age 91 of Columbus, MS, fomerly of Hamilton, passed away on Friday, Sept. 26, 2014 in Baptist Hospital in Columbus. Mr. Miller was a WWII U.S. Army Air Force veteran.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira Powell Miller and Orpha Lou Nabors Miller, his first wife, Mary Ella Phillips Miller, sister Alice Miller McDonald, and an infant daughter Renee Miller.  He is survived by his wife, Sue Lampkin Burgess Miller, daughter Naomi Miller McCullar (Lynn) of Guin, grandsons, Jason McCullar (Erin) of Martin, TN, Nathan McCullar of Sulligent, and Brandon McCullar (Maegan) of Detroit, AL, 5 great grandchildren, step daughters, Patty Shackleford (Johnny) of Pickinsville, Charlotte Bogue (Rodney) of Ecru, MS,  and Pam Scott (Ron) of Arkansas, brothers, Lamar G. Miller (Florence) of Helena, and Norman Miller (Sarah) of McCalla, a sister, Florene Miller Elliott of Pleasant Grove, and a host of step grandchildren, neices, nephews and other relatives and friends.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28, from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church near Hamilton, with burial to follow in the Hamilton Memorial Gardens.  Bro. Lynn McCullar, Bro. Ron Scott, and Bro. Terry McAdams officiaitng.  Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. (Service time) on Sunday at the Church.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Miller family.   

Mrs. Mary Edith Hollingsworth

Mrs. Mary Edith Hollingsworth age 92 of the Hubbertville Community passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014 in the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield.  Mrs. Hollingsworth was a long time member of the White’s Chapel Church of Christ.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Annie Olinger Hiten, husband, Cleburn J. “Little Dan” Hollingsworth and daughter, Patricia Ann Hollingsworth.  She is survived by a niece, Rosa Lee Haley and a host of great nieces and great nephews and other relatives and friends.  Funeral services for Mrs. Hollingsworth are planned for Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the White’s Chapel Cemetery.  Jimmy McNees will be the officiating minister.  Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Hollingsworth family.

Mr. James A."Jim" East

Mr. James A. East Jr. better known as "Jim", age 85 of Millington, TN, formerly of Winfield, passed away on Wednesday, September 9th 2014 at Hospice House in Memphis, TN.  Mr. East was born June 1, 1929 in Brilliant, AL.  He was an active member of the Bartlett Woods Church of Christ in Arlington, TN; his favorite hobbies were bass fishing and watching Alabama football.  He was preceded in death by his parents, James Arlos East, Sr. and Vivian Shaw East, and 3 brothers, Rufus, Henry, and Walter East.  Jim is survived by his wife, June, daughters, Cherry Williams (Derek) and Cathy Murphy (Harvey), all of Millington, TN, 4 granddaughters, Lesley, Laura, Morgan, and Mackenzie, a sister, Melba Webb of Blanchard, OK, and 2 brothers, Charles East of Houston, TX and Leslie East of Moulton, AL. A committal/memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14th at the Elliott Branch Arrow Pier on Little Bear Creek lake near Hodges.  The family will receive friends on Saturday, Sept. 13th from 5:30 until 7:30 at Bowen Funeral Home in Winfield.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Methodist Hospice Care in Memphis, TN, or the charity of your choice.  Donations to Methodist Hospice may be directed on line at https://events.methodisthealth.org/donate, designated to the memory of Mr. East.  Condolences and acknowledgements may be sent to Mrs. June East, 6962 Juana DR., Millington, TN, 38053.

Mr. Andrew Franklin Barnett, Sr.

Mr. Andrew Franklin Barnett, Sr. age 68 of Glen Allen, pased away Saturday, September 12, 2104 at his residents.  Mr. Barnett was a U.S. Army Veteran that served during the Vietnam Conflict.  He was preceded in death by his parents Amos Franklin Barnett, Sr and Bonnie Barnett.  He is survived by his son, Andy Barnett of Hamilton and daughter Chasity Walker, Milton, FL, grandchildren, Frenchie, Timothy Cage & Elaina Stewart, brothers,  Jeff and John  Skaggs, Ronald Breeding, Charles Centers  and Pete Collins. Nieces, Tella and Tanna Barnett and nephew, Jason Price.  Funeral services are planned for Monday September 15, 2014 at 3:00 p.m.  from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Glen Allen Methodist Cemetery with military honors bring presented at graveside.  Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m.  until 3:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Elsie Marie Harris Bobo

Mrs. Elsie Marie Harris Bobo, age 88 of Winfield, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014 at Kemp Meadows Assisted Living facility in Winfield.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Ozie D. and Ozema Palmer Harris, husband Arman Bobo, son Billie Bobo, 4 sisters and 5 brothers.  Mrs. Bobo is survived by 4 neices, Carolyn Lovvern of Killen, AL, Barbara Ziegler of Fayette, and Linda Bowen Tucker of Birmingham, Anne Urban of Killen, AL, 3 nephews, Grady Guyton of Green Rock, IL, Roger Guyton of Florence, and Jerry Bowen of Birmingham, special friends, Marty and Cynthia Green of Winfield,  and a host of cousins, and other relatives and friends.  Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, Sept, 11, from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the West AL Memorial Gardens.  Bro. James Wilson will officiate.  Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon (service time) on Thursday at the funeral home.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Bobo family.
