Obituaries

Mr. Bartlett

Mr. Harlan Wayne Bartlett, age 50 of Winfield, passed away on April 22, 2014 at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Rena Allred of Winfield, sisters, Jean Penly of Gadsden, and Joyce Emerson of Red Bay, a brother, Larry Travis Emerson of Red Bay, and a host of other relatives and friends.  A memorial service for Mr. Bartlett will be announced at a later date.   Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Bartlett Family.

 

 

Mrs. Charlee Miles Hubbert

Mrs. Charlee Miles Hubbert, age 77 of Hubbertville, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at her residence.  Mrs. Hubbert was preceded in death by her son Eddie Hubbert.  She is survived by her husband of 59 years Thurmon Hubbert, son Tony Hubbert (Melissa) of Riverside, grandchildren, Chris Hubbert (Ashton) of Glen Allen, T.J. Hubbert (Vicky) of North Beach Maryland, & Jennifer Hubbert of Tuscaloosa, great grandchildren, Kamryn Hubbert of Glen Allen, Kayleigh Hubbert and Vincent Hubbert of North Beach Maryland.  Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, may 9, 2014 from the Hubbertville Church of Christ with burial to follow in Hubbertville Cemetery.  Wendell Fikes and Lyndell Fikes will officiate.  The visitation will be fron 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Hubbert family. 

Mr. Earl Tidwell

Mr. Earl Tidwell passed away Sunday April 20, 2014 at his residence.  Mr. Tidwell age 76 was born on November 22, 1937 to Mr. William R. and Mrs. Ethel Dozier Tidwell.  He is survived by his wife Marilyn Heathcock Tidwell, one daughter Tracy Tidwell, two sons, Phillip Wayne and James Earl (Patricia) Tidwell, five grandchildren, Justin (Candace) McWhirter, Stacey Herron, Scotty, Darrell and Jamie Tidwell, three great grandchildren, Skylar and Dawson Earl Tidwell and Alyssa McWhirter.  Mr. Tidwell was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, J.T., Bunk and Billy Joe Tidwell and one sister, Agnes Tidwell.  Graveside services were held on Sunday April 20, 2014 at 5 p.m. at  Peter Tidwell Cemetery near Eldridge. Mrs. Betty Jean Madison

Mrs. Betty Jean Madison, age 80 of the Crumly Chapel community, passed away on Tuesday May 6th 2014 at her residence.  Mrs. Madison was preceded in death by her daughter Pamela Madison DeVine and a great granddaughter Olivia Nichole Avery.  She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ray Kent Madison, daughter, Cindy Davis (Wrendon), of Shelby Co., Grandchildren, Lurenda Davis Avery (Ben) of Shelby Co., and Nichole Davis Rotter (Gerry) of Mt. Brook, great grandchildren, Jeffrey and Chelsea Avery, and Elijah and Adeline Hatcher.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 8th from the Crumly Chapel United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Adjoining Cemetery.  Rev. Lynn Dimon will officiate, visitation will be from 10:00 a.m until 11:00 am (service time) on Thursday at the Church.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Madison family.

Mrs. Billie Faye Strickland Rawls

Mrs. Billie Faye Strickland Rawls, age 73 of Brilliant, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at her residence.  Mrs. Rawls was a member of the Goldmine Church of Christ.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Zack and Rosa Threadgilll Shirley, a husband, Mr. George Leonard Strickland, a grandson, Zackery Hooper, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.  Survivors include her husband, Mr. James Harold Rawls, daughters, Regina Hooper (Tony) of Houston, MS, and Tammy Cummings (Jeff) of Brilliant, sons, Marty Strickland and Joey Strickland of Brilliant, step children, Brett (Tamatha) Rawls of Colorado and DeAnna (Matthew) Cullum of Nashville, TN.  Grandchildren, Aja and Cassidy Hooper, Dakota Cummings, and Emma Grace Strickland, a great grandson, Ethan Soper, and several neices, nephews, and other relatives and friends.  Funeral Services will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel.  Jerry Self will officiate.  The visitation will be from 4:30  until 6:30 p.m. (service time) on Tuesday at the funeral home.  Burial will follow on Wednesday, April 23, at Goldmine Cemetery.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Rawls family.
