Mrs. Mavaleen "Pet" Bly

Mrs. Mavaleen Tidwell "Pet" Bly, age 83 of Winfield, passed away on Wednesday, November 26th, 2014 at her residence.  Mrs. Bly was preceded in death by her parents, Rass and Edna Heathcock Tidwell, husbands,  Jack Harris, R.P. Harrison, and George Columbus Bly, a son Larry Harris, granddaughter, Kristi Dooley, great granddaughter, Isabella Dooley, and 2 sisters, Hassie and Augusta Mayfield.  She is survived by her children, Brenda (Jerry) Reese, Jerry Harris, and Linda (Eddie) Norris, grandchildren, Cynthia (Van) Tidwell, Ed (Tiffany) Harris, Jeremy (Julie) Sumners, Shannon (Jason) South, Kimberly Reese Hulsey,  Brandon Norris, Crystal (Clint) Coulon, and Jamie (Amber) Endsley, great grandchildren, Kayla Pendley, Gunner Pendley, Rylee Hulsey, Emma Grace South, Mai Dooley, Raylee Harris, Jackson Tidwell, Easton South, Katelynn Sumners, and Gracelynn Endsley.  step grandchildren, Brian (Dee Dee) Bly, and Karen Bly Harris, step great grandchildren, Julia Bly, Chris Bly, Chase Bly, and Bonnie Shoemaker, and a daughter in law, Pam Harris.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 29th from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with Burial to follow in the White Springs Cemetery.  Scotty Stovall and Ronnie Elmore will officiate.  Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. (service time) on Saturday.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Bly family.

Mary "Bay" Bozeman Sanders

Mary “Bay” Bozeman Sanders, age 90, of Winfield, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2014 in the Consult America Nursing Facility in Carbon Hill.  Mrs. Sanders is the widow of Mr. James Lecil Sanders and the daughter of the late Mr. Clarence Bozeman and Mattie Jones Wilson.

Mrs. Sanders is survived by her son, David (Irene) Sanders of Winfield, daughter-in-law, Brenda Sanders of Winfield, 4 grandchildren, Darryl (Christy) Sanders of Birmingham, Randy Sanders of Winfield, Amy (Darrell) Franks of Winfield, Misty (Robbie) Hillis of Florence, 8 great grandchildren, Adam Franks, Felicia Haley, Chelsea Johnson, Laken Franks, Brady Franks, Wesley Sanders, Ben Hillis and Lydia Hillis, 6 great great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Ruby Lyons and Pat Musquara.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, James Donald Sanders, daughter-in-law, Mary Nell Sanders and 2 grandsons, James Donald Sanders, Jr, and Terry Allen Sanders.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel and visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. (service time). Bro. Hollie Wayne Spiller and Bro. Robert Huffman will be the officiating ministers. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery.  Bowen Funeral Home serving the Sanders family.

Mrs.Dorothy Mae Atkins

Mrs. Dorothy Mae Wates Atkins, age 80, of Guin in the Pea Ridge Community, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2014 at her residence.

Mrs. Atkins was the daughter of the late Clyde and Fannie Lucille Martin Wates. She is survived by her husband, Bro. William L. "Widdy" Atkins, sons, Allen (Kathy) Atkins of Guin, Randal (Phyllis) Atkins of Harvest, AL and Shane (Stephanie) Atkins of Moundville, AL, grandchildren, Tara (Tim) Eller, Heath (Amanda) Atkins, Kyle (Nicole) Atkins, Kayla (Nelson) Baine, Victoria and Cade Atkins, 11 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and 2 sisters, Ann Kallenbach and Helen Wilson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Inez Harrod.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens in Gu-Win.

Bro. Mark Riggs and Bro. Jack Harder will be officiating the service.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 11, 2014 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Atkins family.

Lachelle Paige Nix Lucas

Lachelle Paige Nix Lucas, age 32, of Winfield, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 in U.A.B. Medical Center in Birmingham. Paige is the daughter of Pam & Parker Webster of Winfield and Doyle & Anita Nix of New Albany, MS. She is survived by her parents, sister, Christy (Joe) Williams of Hamilton, brother, Adam Nix of Winfield, niece, Makenzie Nix of Winfield, nephews, Tony and Bo Williams of Hamilton and Grandmothers, Pauline Birmingham of Guin & Nelda Webb of Winfield.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Robert Webb and grandparents L.M. & Quilla Mae Nix.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2014 from the Bowen Funeral Home chapel. Matthew Paul officiating.

Visitation will be on Thursday, from 6:00 till 7:00 p.m. (service time) at Bowen Funeral Home chapel.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the charity of your choice in memory of Paige. Bowen Funeral Home serving the Lucas family.

Mr. Charles Gentry

Mr. Charles Gentry, age 85 of Helena, formerly of the Hubbertville area, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at his residence in Helena.  He was preceded in death by his wife. Martha Nell Gentry, his parents, 1 sister, Louise Salter and 4 brothers, James, Harold, Virgil and Boots Gentry.  Mr. Gentry is survived by his son, Brian Gentry of Helena, grandchildren, Grady and Katie Gentry of Helena, sister-in-laws- Janie Holmes and Brenda (Larry) Rush of Alabaster, brother-in-law Phillip (Carolyn) Webster of Hubbertville.   Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2014 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Berea Church of Christ Cemetery.  Scott Webster will be the officiating minister.  Visitation will be form 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm (service time) on Friday at the funeral home.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Gentry family.
