Mr. Loyd "John Henry" Tucker

Mr. Loyd Lee "John Henry" Tucker, age 85, of the White's Chapel Community, passed away on Monday, November 18th, at his residence. Mr. Tucker was born on January 16th, 1928 in Walker County, the son of Erbon and Altie Tucker. He served his country during the Korean conflict, was retired from Arvin Industries in Fayette, and was a member of White's Chapel Church of Christ.  Mr. Tucker was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Louise "Sue" Tucker, and a brother, Tony Tucker.  He is survived by his children, Rena (Mike) Johnson, Daril (Cindy) Tucker, and Marrill (Rhetta) Tucker, brother, Jimmy Dell (Amelia) Tucker, sister, Vesta Lee Tucker, grandchildren, Chad (April) Estes, Kelly (Jason) Tittle, Whit Tucker, Chasidy Tucker, and Skylar Tucker, great grandchildren, Clay & Reese Tittle, step great grandchildren, Mason (Nicole) Estes, and Mackenzie (Justin) Wakefield, and step great great grandchildren, Isabella & Reed Estes.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday from the White's Chapel Church of Christ, with burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery.  Visitation will be from 12:00 noon unitl 2:00 p.m. (service time) on Wednesday at the church.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Tucker family.    

Mr. Carter T. "Pop" McCollum

Mr. Carter T. McCollum, Better known as "Pop",  age 62, of the Bazemore community, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2013 in the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield.  Mr. McCollum was preceded in death by his parents, Gertis and Pina Rice McCollum, 2 sisters, E.J. Douglas and Nellie Jean McCollum, and 2 brothers, A.C. and Grady McCollum.  He is survived by his children, Barbara McCollum Tyler of Milwaukee, WI, Courtney Scott McCollum of Connecticut, Amanda McCollum of New Orleans, and Ryan Charles Samuel McCollum of Pheonix, AZ, 9 grandchildren, a sister, Linda McCollum Armstead of Bazemore, brothers, Ruebben (Bobbie) McCollum of Bazemore, Howard (Sadie) McCollum of Milwaukee, WI, Charles McCollum of Bazemore, Dan (Mary) McCollum of Tupelo, MS, Miles (Evelyn) Mccollum of Phoenix, AZ, and James Ritchey McCollum of Winfield. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2013 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel.  David Armstead will officiate.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. unitl 11:00 a.m. (service time) on Saturday at the funeral home.   Bowen Funeral Home serving the McCollum family. 

Mrs. Sandra Bray

Mrs. Sandra Sue Franks Bray, age 66 of Brilliant, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2013 at her residence.  Mrs. Bray was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Brilliant.  She was a preceded in death by her parents, Lebern and Emma Sue Lindley Franks, a son, John Lindley Bray, and a brother, Grayson Franks.  She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Mr. Johnny Bray of Brilliant, daughters, Jimmie Sue Finch (Tim) of Brilliant, and Lora Michelle Cagle of Brilliant, sons, Christopher Scott Bray (Renee) of Hartselle, and John Linley Bray Jr. of Brilliant, grandchildren, Megan Bolton (Josh), Cody Finch (Taylor), Daxton Cagle, Morgan Cagle, and Grayson & Elliott Bray, great grandchildren, Madilyn and Brayleigh Bolton, Brantley Cagle, and Aspen Finch, sisters, Donna Ann Sink of Thomasville, NC, & Denise Goodman of Dallas , GA,  brother, Larry Franks of Lufkin, TX, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.  Funeral Services for Mrs. Bray will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Brilliant Memorial Gardens, Bro. Jamie Jeffries will be the officiating minister.  The visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M on Tuesday at the funeral home.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Bray family. 

Mr. Larry Gene "Sam" Taylor

Mr. Larry Gene "Sam" Taylor, age 66 of Guin, in the Twin community, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 in the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield.  Sam was a retired Master Sargent with the United States National Guard, serving in the 877th unit for over 40 years, a member of the Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church, and a 1965 Graduate of Hamilton High School.  Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his parents, A.Z. and Gera Lee Scogin Taylor.  He is survived by his wife, Sheila Taylor, daughters, Anissa (Steve) Blair of Winfield and Natalie (Matthew) May of Helena, a son, Jason (Mandy) Taylor of Guin, grandchildren, Haley Minor, Anderson Minor, Braely Taylor, Bretta Taylor, and Kate May, step grandchildren, Morgan and Loren Blair, aunt, Mary Dell Knight of Hamilton, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2013 from the Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Adjoining cemetery. Military honors will be presented at the graveside, Brother Mike Beckon will be the officiating minister.  Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Taylor family. 

Mrs. Clytee Reed

Mrs. Clytee Elaine Reed, age 72 of Winfield, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2013 in the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield.  Mrs. Reed was a member of the Winfield Freewill Baptist Church, and worked many years as an LPN at the hospital in Winfield.   She was preceded in death  by her parents, Clyde and Clorene Ashcraft Roberts, and her husband Sammy Gene Reed.  She is survived by her children, Joe Reed of Guin, Charles Reed of Guin, Sammy Reed Jr. (Diane) of Alabaster, and Suzanne Reed of Guin, a sister, Carolyn Adams of Tuscaloosa, brothers, Freddy Roberts  of Curry and Johnny Ashcraft of Neveda, grandchildren, Kent Tucker, Tiffany Reed and Phillip Reed.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Brother Danny Williams will be the officiating minister. The Visitation will be from 10:00a.m. until 11:00 a.m. (service time) on Tuesday at the funeral home.  The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Golden Living Center in Winfield, very special thanks to Lana; the I.C.U. staff at Northwest Medical Center, and Mrs. Reeds co-workers at the hospital, for their kind care for Mrs. Reed.  Bowen funeral home of Winfield serving the Reed family.
