Obituaries

Mrs. Willadean Dickinson

Mrs. Willadean Dickinson, age 79 of Winfield, passed away on Saturday, March 19th 2016 at Northwest Medical Center in Winfield. Mrs. Dickinson was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star; she was a school bus driver for Winfield City Schools for over 20 years, and was owner/operator of C & D Barbeque in Winfield.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James Horace Dickinson, her parents, Jim and Dessie Vickery, a brother, Bobby Jean Vickery, and  2 sisters, Betty Sue Vickery Gann and Juanita "Blondie" Vickery Whitehead.   She is survived by her daughters, Stacie White (Michael) and Cynthia Burleson (Joseph), 3 grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Austin White and Braden Burleson, 2 brothers, Jimmy Vickery (Brenda) and Danny Vickery (Joan), and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 21, from the Bowen Funeral Home chapel with burial to follow in the Brilliant Memorial Gardens.  The visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time on Monday at the funeral home.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Dickinson family.   

Mrs. Judy Morrison

Mrs. Judy Gail Guin Morrison, age 71 of Winfield, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2016 at her residence.  She was preceded in death by her father, Athel Guin, and a daughter, Kris Morrison Clair.  She is survived by her mother, Johnnie McRight Guin, sisters, Patricia Guin Brock (James), Myra Guin Reed, and Peggy Guin Trull (David), a brother, Stephen Guin (Pam), a daughter Ann Morrison Grice (Nelson), grandchildren, Matthew, Gabriel, Adam, Jonah, Seth, Joseph, Benjamin, and Janie Cate, and a host of other relatives and many friends.  Judy will always be remembered for her faith, her love and devotion for her family, and her servants heart toward others.  Celebration of life services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 19th, from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in the Zion Missionary Baptist Cemetery.  The visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time on Saturday at the funeral home.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Morrision Family. 

Mr. Johnie Barnard Sandlin


Mr. Johnie Barnard Sandlin, age 79 of Winfield, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at his residence.  He was born on September 5, 1936, in Brilliant, AL.  Mr. Sandlin worked as a coal miner most of his life and a licensed minister he was also an avid reader of the Bible and enjoyed music & playing the guitar, fishing, wood working and most of all spending time with his family.  Mr. Sandlin was preceded in death by his parents, William Avery and Pearlie Spiller Sandlin, 6 sisters, Frances Lopez, Mary Cauwels, Christine Bryan, twins, Adell & Liddell Sandlin and Zittie Jo Sandlin, 3 brothers, James Sandlin, Steven Sandlin and Odis Sandlin. He is survived by his wife, Edith Evans Sandlin of Winfield, daughter, Sandra (David) Scogin of Winfield, son, Christopher (Cindy Chandler) Sandlin of Winfield, grandson, Adam (Holly) Scogin, great grandchildren, Allie, Elijah and Branch Scogin, Noah & Reese Wyers, 2 brothers, Donald (Maedean) Sandlin of Winfield and Roger Sandlin of Winfield, 1 sister, Rachel Stocks of Winfield, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.  Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 11, 2016 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in the Winfield City Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. (service time).  Bro. Hollie Wayne Spiller will officiate.  Bowen Funeral Home serving the Sandlin Family.


Danny Colburn

Mr. Danny Colburn, age 57 of Northport, formerly of Winfield, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2016 at his residence.  Danny was employed with Mercedes Benz Company in Vance, Alabama.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Joyce Colburn, a brother, James "Jim" Colburn, and a nephew, Spencer Benton.  Danny is survived by his wife, Sherry McDonald Colburn, a sister, Kristi Potter (Kevin) of Brookwood, children, Leisha Crumpton (Kevin) of Winfield, and Eric Bowles (Mary Margaret) of Northport, grandchildren, Anna Kate and Ella Brooke Crumpton and Jackson Bowles, nieces and nephews, Stephanie Estes of Tuscaloosa, Renea Hollis (Derek) of Huntsville, Gunnar Benton of Brookwood, Walker Potter of Brookwood, Nikki Grammer (John) of Northport, and Andrew McDonald of Northport, in-laws, Earl & Merle McDonald and Earnestine Colburn of Winfield, brother- in-law, Mark McDonald (Sherry) of Northport, and numerous other relatives and friends.  Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm on Thursday, March 17, 2016 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Winfield City Cemetery.  Larry Alexander and James Wyers will be the officiating ministers.  The visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Colburn family. 

Mrs. Faye Fowler

Mrs. Faye Fowler, age 86 of Winfield, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at her residence.  Mrs. Fowler was preceded in death by her parents, Vester Whitley Vaughn and Hassie Thacker Vaughn, her husband Grier Fowler,  a daughter, Georgia Faye McNeil, 3 sisters and 3 brothers.  She is survived by her children, Frank Grier Fowler (Brenda) of Winfield, Jona Felice Rickher (Jim) of Louisiana, Indy Fowler (Don) of Northport, and Vaughn Steel Fowler of Stapleton, AL, grandchildren, Carrie Edmonson (Keith), Kristy Silas (Darrell), Nicholas Fowler (Chelsea), Hillary Demouey (James), Cory Tucker, Matthew Fowler (Cacyce), Dusty Fowler (Stephanie) Jacob Fowler (Lindsey), Nathan Atkinson, Emily Sexton (Keith), and Josh Atkinson, great grandchildren, Kendall and Grayson Edmonson, Casey and Shelby Silas, Ashton Strange, Annabelle, Graci, Bryton, Wilkes, Addi Brooke, Levi, Ford, Kennedy Rose, and Ellis Fowler, and Jack and Whit Sexton, a great great grandson, John Asher McMillan, a brother, Bill Vaughn (Naoka) of Virginia, a sister in law Mildred Vaughn of Illinois, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.  Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, from the Brilliant United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.  Rev. Jeremy Harris will officiate. The visitation will be from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. (service time) on Sunday at the Church.  Bowen funeral Home of Winfield serving the Fowler family.
